New Columbia Drafts started in the spring of 2020, when we started helping our friends shut down their draft systems properly, so that when the time came, they would be ready again to pour quality beverages. The following summer we realized we could translate that level of love into a company and bring that care to others. And that we could build it with the type of customer service that our years in hospitality taught us to deliver.
Raised in the greater DC area, Sean has been working in and around restaurants, bars and breweries for the past 15 years.
As a teenager, he realized that he could make beer but quickly found out that to make good beer, you have to clean and maintain everything the beer comes in contact with.
For the last decade Sean has maintained & installed hundreds of draft systems while never forgetting what he learned day one: Clean Beer is the Best Beer.
In 2021, when Sean wanted to open a new draft company, he was lucky that his best friend, Doug, was eager to start New Columbia Drafts and help him grow the business into what it is today.
Originally from Detroit, Doug has spent 25 years working in bars and restaurants. For the past 18 he has lived and worked for independently owned and operated bars in the District.
With a background in handiwork and working for small businesses he learned about all the things that it took to keep a well maintained bar, including draft beer systems.
Having a passion for quality beer (he even has judged beer competitions believe it or not) and a pension for working with his hands, it was a no-brainer when former bartending partner and long time friend Sean approached him about starting their own draft service company.
